Engineering Internship (Fall)

Socialight is seeking someone exceptionally talented to work in our Manhattan office. This is an internship role, with flexible hours and lots of opportunity to learn in a fun, startup environment.

Socialight is an urban navigation service, helping people connect with places and people in their cities using mobile phones. You’ll be working on building the next generation of web and mobile social software which will allow users to discover, communicate and share media, messages and information. We’re looking for people who like challenges, are remarkably detail-oriented, highly competent and multi-faceted and love creating web and mobile applications. A good design sensibility and a sense of humor always help. 

Requirements (knowledge of some of these is acceptable): 

• LAMP stack
• Linux, Apache, Perl / PHP, MySQL
• XHTML/CSS- XML
• OOP Programming
• Web Services (SOAP, REST, XML-RPC)

Desirable

• Ruby + Rails framework
• J2ME experience and knowledge of the intricacies of developing for mobile devices
• BREW / Symbian C++- XSLT- CVS/Subversion
• MVC Architecture
• Shell scripting
